A lot of what's going on in this thread is an extension of drama that has been in the works for a while now. You want name calling? Visit the thread on a certain other forum where everyone decides to drag Alex's name through the mud. I guarantee you if I posted my "alternate point of view" about the LL and Alex there I'd be hazed mercilessly.
One would think that a person with your level of education would be capable of a solid alternate point of view.
And be confident enough to stand behind it. Regardless of where you post it.
I think that the new LL2 is a much better amp than the LL for a number of reasons. Given that there are no other
fully solid state commercial electrostatic amps out there than the srm323s and srm727s2 it is likely that the LL2 will own the
market for a significant amount of time.
As to how Justin measured his amp, I know it was at higher voltages, and he used a 100x Tektronix probe (10M input impedance) and
a laptop with rmaa. And the numbers were still lower than the numbers he guarantees. A lot of the problems
with rmaa are misuse due to incorrectly matched levels and soundcards with low and inaccurate resolution.
This is why the Audio Precision, the Dscope, and the things Schiit use can be so much better. But you can still
generate bogus data by incorrectly using these devices. And with an a appropriately high end sound card you
can still generate more than acceptable data with rmaa.
My personal BHSE(original version) and the T2 both measure about the same at .02% THD+Noise at 400 volts
peak to peak (x2 for balanced) into a 30+ year old sound technology 100a. (that is well maintained)
As far as I know for boutique headphone amplifier companies, the only one that owns high end test equipment is Schiit.
And they definitely know how to use the stuff.
