Make my subwoofer woman friendly
« on: March 11, 2013, 03:38:56 AM »

Short and sweet:

  • I have an LFM-1 EX (until I finish an inoffensive enclosure for my dual revelator 8"s and transport my ED 13A.v2s to a new box)
  • The top is shiny
  • There is a little one in my life who will scratch the heck out of the top if I don't cover it
  • The lady does not want something ugly in the house

Please, pirates, tell me that someone has an option for covering my subwoofer while it's doubling as a side table that will protect the finish and not get me thrown out of the house   :)p7. Life with just 2 CRM-2s and nothing filling in the low end is killing me.

How about some adhesive film that won't leave residue when you remove it?

I was thinking contact paper. I guess I could cut it down to size, but I don't think I'm going to do a great job of that. It might look like  poo

Does it have to be a complete covering? I mean, you could just stack a book on top, or a coaster and a plant or something like that. Maybe a sheet of clear plastic cut to size? (cheap from a hardware store, or even just some plastic from a window kit at the dollar store) You wouldn't even need adhesive as the plastic should provide enough stick all by itself.

Not sure if I like stuffing one hole or both holes. Tending toward one hole since both holes seems kinda ghey ~Purrin

Hmm, let me see if I can find something that large. Part of the problem is that the agreement was that I was providing an end table that just so happened to double as a subwoofer :)

How about a nice and heavy wooden or marble slab? Then it'll just look like a plain ol' tabletop and none will be the wiser, plus the extra bonus of weighing down the sub. You could even pick something to match the decor of the room.

Slab of glass cut to fit with rubber feet under it will keep the shiny look and keep it protected.

Or get some acrylic cut to size from Tap plastics to fit.  They can put a nice bevel on the edges too. same deal with some rubber feet under it to keep it in place and protect the top.

Both allow you to keep using it as an end table.

So the joke is it's woman-friendly because it's pink?

Great options (other than the pink woofer, I'm pretty sure the lady would flip).

I'm going to head to tap plastics to fabricated a top for the thing and affix rubber feet. Thanks, guys! :)p7
