In all fairness, according to Tyll's article on the HD800 their development process was pretty similar.

I wouldn't blame Sennheiser for this. I would blame us for wishful thinking believing that the leakers of such rumors / information actually had any authority on matters Sennheiser.

The real question is wether sennheiser has an ortho prototype in their secret lab?  Sounds like they do.

They were right about there being an electrostatic prototype out there, but the CES guess was way off sadly.
