PP6 IEM Measurements

Subjective impressions here: http://www.changstar.com/index.php/topic,682.msg15342.html#msg15342

The measurements make sense. As I indicated, a treble peak, and an overall lack of coherence = uneven response - which simple EQ could not correct. It should be noted that my FR measurements (or any others) don't seem to catch oddities in the bass / lower mid area which are heard subjectively. Every graph seems to smooth things out in the bass / lower mid region. I wonder if it's a coupler thing. (This is really another topic altogether)

Note: FR graph cuts off at 9kHz intentionally. Both channels measured at same reference level. Matching is good, at least within error of the coupler and human factors.

How much are these again? I would have expected much better with an active setup where EQ can be built into the circuitry.

Marvey:
Burst decays. Ringing at 7-8kHz.

Marvey:
Harmonic Distortion @ 90db SPL/A white noise. Pattern suggests BA type transducer. Slightly lower than UERM in the odd orders (3rd and 5th). UERM HD graph also attached for comparison.

That and likely the ringing at 8khz is what gave me headaches over extended listening.  I personally feel the upper bass you were hearing is more of a tip selection fit/depth/seal issue.  More open bores w/ less of a jammed in type seal are often more relaxed and neutral IME.  There's a good chance the custom would sound cleaner in the low end.  Bass was not too much of an issue for me once I nailed my tips.

Here are their own measurements for correlation:

Marvey:
I like those triple flange ER-4S kind of tips.
