Whats really weird is the massive inconsistencies with these cans. The sextetts I had before were super dark. They were like hd600s -6db in treble and plus about 3db in bass so far as balance was concerned

I'm suspicious that the passive radiators are part of why these look so bad.  They are essentially 6 driver diaphragms that react with the backwave produced by the driver, so maybe they have a delayed response from the driver that doesn't sound that bad, but is picked up in this type of graph.

I seem to recall seeing some old Sextett literature explaining that the passive diaphragms were there to even out the perceived midbass respose. It's probably buried somewhere in the hf thread. Does anyone here have any of the original documentation/ads?

Do you think there may be an acoustic leak from the jack hole? ~Tyll Hertsens

Not sure if I like stuffing one hole or both holes. Tending toward one hole since both holes seems kinda ghey ~Purrin

It basically says: Due to the stiffness of the passive-radiators, they block bass in order to give the headphone a bass-response similar to a closed can. The mids and treble are able to pass right through~

funny side note: they praise their design quite silly. -> Regular open headphones are on-ear and therefor have a bad bass-response. We fixed this with circumaural ear-pads, lol.
