Beyer T1 Frequency Response and CSD Waterfall Plots (good unit)
« on: December 09, 2011, 10:05:04 PM »

Beyer T1 Frequency Response and CSD Waterfall Plots. This T1 sounded much better than that disaster I measured before. Definitely didn't sound thin. More bass. Still bright though. Definitely a peak at 10kHz.

Only one CSD set attached. -40db floor. Lots of treble energy from 8-12kHz.

& better driver matching too. With this much variation maybe there was a problem with QC on the first batch of units.

It seems QC is more than just an issue with the T1. A lot of Beyer units have QC problems in my experience.

I'd love to see a CSD of the DT880 600ohm.  I was comparing Tyll's measures and WTF?!  Anyone else seeing what I see when they tab back and forth?

Hey purrin, let's mod a T1 by taking the magnet out and replacing it w/ a neodymium from Radioshack.  Preferable wrapped in TP.

Wow, nice find!  The impulse response looks faster on the DT880, which is strange considering how amazingly hugely immensely powerful the magnet is.  But what the graphs don't show is that they use white gloves and lab coats when handling the T1's.   :)

i wonder how the vintage dt880 stacks up to the current dt880. i swore the vintage models though were closed and not open like the current dt880. i know of some people liking the vintage dt880 more though. i would still love to see something like the dt48A and dt48S negra measured due to their high praise for driver and enclosure matching.

So is it pretty common that drivers aren't... very good?  How can we know if we have a bad one?  I mean the measurements are what can help... but dang.. this makes me think twice about getting HP's...

I wonder if the CSD waterfall would be different if the T1 had some dampening?  I know on HF Zombie X posted up something about the dampening smoothing out the treble spike.
