Demons Souls on PS3 is another favorite for this generation. I need to pick up the second one.

Dark Souls is amazing. You shouldn't be disappointed if you enjoyed Demon's Souls.

Is this good with keyboard controls or should I stick with a console version?

I'm playing through Dishonored now. There seems to be a lot of similarities to Assassin's Creed, but it has it's own character. I expected it to be like the Elder Scrolls games because it was published by Bethesda but I guess I was wrong!

Published by =/= Developed by. ;) But, mannnnnn, I would kill for an open-world version of Dishonored...

Any PC gamers gaming on a 120Hz monitor just for the 120Hz (no 3D)? It's glorious. It's unbelievable how much smoother everything looks in motion on this. And, no, I'm not talking about that "120Hz" bullshit on a lot of TVs these days. That's just upconverting non-120fps sources to 120fps by inserting frames based on the differences between the existing frames. So, so nasty. The different is that noticeable on my monitor, but in a completely awesome way.

The upcoming Omega DLC for ME3 has me really excited as a ME fan. The adjutants will finally be showing up (Reaper-modded Salarians), who were supposed to be there from the beginning but were omitted because they broke the physics engine. I guess they finally solved the problem or just changed their behavior from the original idea.

It'll be cool seeing Omega again. The biggest thing however is getting Aria in your squad and finally (---finally---) getting a female Turian squad member. She's looking awesome:

Shouldn't be the only thing that gets you excited as a Mass Effect Fan!

Yeah, heard the announcement for "ME4" a while ago. The only thing that seems to be known about it thus far is that it's not going to be directly related to the current Shepard trilogy. Also apparently someone at BioWare offhandedly mentioned the main character "wont be a soldier" which upset some people. Frankly that's welcome news to me, since I thought ME3 was too Gears of War and not BioWare-ish enough.

Am I excited? Sure. I can't help it. However I'd say more than excitement, I'm feeling skeptical. Mass Effect 3 was a tremendous disappointment (not just the ending either, but the entire game). Ever since BioWare became another head of EA's corporate hydra, their quality has started to shrivel up faster than someone's erection after seeing Lemon Party. They're just not the same company that made ME1 and ME2 (the latter which was released after the acquisition but still mostly completed prior to their absorption, similar to Dragon Age: Origins in that respect).

Not at all surprised they'd continue to milk the franchise. It is quite popular, after all. Now that most of the original team responsible for the Shepard trilogy has left, replaced in large part by corporate EA drones, I think there's a strong chance the series is going to take a nosedive straight into the pavement. Trying to not get my expectations up too much as a result. I'd rather be pleasantly surprised than bitterly disappointed as I was with ME3.

ME2 was my favourite of the trilogy.  The ME1 story was the best, by far, but some of the mechanics in the game prevented me from enjoying it.  ME2 felt a lot more polished from a gameplay standpoint, and the whole "recruit a crack team to defeat evil!" story line was super fun for me.

ME3 was still a great game in my opinion, but I agree that ME1 and ME2 were much better.  DA:Origins was infinitely better than DA:2, but I still think DA:2 is the more 'polished' game overall in terms of gameplay mechanics.

A buddy of mine is a project manager for EA and he says the company is just toxic on the inside - everyone is jaded and people who enjoy their job are far and few between.

Pretty much agree. ME1 was a good story with Bioware polish, but clumsy gameplay and execution. ME2 was a decent story, but with better gameplay and definitely polished up like a triple-A title. ME3 was basically just concluding what they had set up before. Gameplay didn't change a lot from 2 and the story was ok. I liked most of it until the ending. Still one of my favorite franchises. I have the N7 logo on one of my customs.

I'm still looking for a turn-based strategy game I like more than Heroes of Might and Magic 3, and for that matter, 4. I know Heroes 4 was much maligned but in my opinion, unfairly. It's a great game in its own right, though maybe not exactly a Heroes game, as it totally changed up the formula. I hated Heroes 5 and never tried Heroes 6, given the state of the game on release, and of course the utterly draconian DRM it was bundled with. Screw that.

I'm also looking for a shooter that doesn't suck. I was a competitive player back in Quake 3 during the OSP days, and the state of the FPS scene right now makes me sad. Obviously things have to be console-compatible these days, which precludes movement systems in AAA titles, but why can't there be a PC-exclusive for people that want the old-school twitchiness and complexity back? I guess I should try Tribes: Ascend, but I was never into Tribes.

The only gaming scene that doesn't make me sad is the fighting game scene, where a lot of the current games I actually like. Unfortunately I'm in an area without fios, and even a little bit of latency completely spoils fighting games. If all frame data is shifted by a significant amount, and if you can't punish what you're supposed to punish, then the whole metagame completely goes out of the window. I don't really care enough to play locally, though I did play with the local Soul Calibur tournament scene a few times. Those guys are damn good and kicked my ass thoroughly, well most of them did. Against a few people I could hold my own. Barely.

God I hate what they did to the new Soul Calibur. I, II & IV managed a good balance of single and multiplayer, but the craptastic story, characters and movesets of V completely turned me off.

Halo 4 was also a little bit of a letdown, at least from the campaign side. It was short, nonsensical and sappy. There's good reason not to flesh out the Master Chief storyline: it basically amounts to a masochist's abusive relationship with a cynical and controlling AI with a none-too-subtle Oedipal subtext. And while the production values were superb, the improved graphics and staging sometimes flew a little too close to the uncanny valley.

Luckily the H4 multiplayer seems like it'll make up for it. In case anyone's on XBL add an anetode if you're down for some war games.
