I used to be big on Diablo (I & II). Defeated Baal in Hell mode with a Necromancer. Those days are gone :'( (...temporarily) I'm doing a little Xbox 360 Kinect ( Kinect StarWars is on its way  :) )

Also was big on Gears of War

Dude there was so much more to D2...all the runewords, hardcore mode, uber tristram, pvp. Killing Baal in Hell mode is only the beginning with that game.

What a coincidence, I was just thinking I should get a few games for the winter. It's been a while since I dug into a game -- last game I beat was Uncharted 3.

Target has a buy 2, get 1 free deal which lasts until today. Any recommendations on games?

I'm getting NBA 2K13 for sure. Was thinking maybe Assassin's Creed 3, Borderlands 2 or Max Payne 3 as well. Anything else I should put on the radar?

Consider Dishonored, if you're into that kind of thing. Also did you ever play Deus Ex: Human Revolution? You should also get around to playing the original BioShock! It's worth it.

I know :'(. Even my ex-boss was in it ( he was an amazon ) May try it again with a different build. Haven't played D3 but it didn't seem to be so successful.

A few other random notes.

Resident Evil 6... still don't know what to really make of it. I'd only played Leon's campaign before getting bored with it, and a lot of moments were just not at all enjoyable (WAY too many "action response" set pieces). Other parts of it---and the overall aesthetic of the game---were okay however. Resident Evil 4 was so utterly amazing, it's kind of weird to think how mediocre the 5th and now 6th games are. I wish Capcom would ditch the parter system in single-player mode, for starters.

Lollipop Chainsaw is a game I STILL haven't had a chance to play. It's sitting in a stack of games I've been neglecting. I was planning on cracking it open around Halloween, but I decided to be sociable and go to some parties instead.

Also there are several new fighting games I've been neglecting. Namely Persona 4 Arena, Arcana Hearts 3, Dead or Alive 5. Then there's this weird RPG sub-genre I discovered last year where you play as an alchemist and basically just go around finding ingredients and mixing up potions and solving peoples' problems and other mundane (but oddly addictive) shit. The latest game I got to that effect was Atelier Meruru.

Um... still need to finish Rage and Doom 3 BFG Edition, too.

My biggest problem is, when I try to work on the backlog of games I've yet to finish, I always end up replaying through a game I've already beaten instead. I'll end up playing through Dragon Age or Mass Effect or Portal 2 or even Catherine again.

Ahhhh I love Catherine. Such a great game.

Demons Souls on PS3 is another favorite for this generation. I need to pick up the second one.

Dark Souls is amazing. You shouldn't be disappointed if you enjoyed Demon's Souls.

I'm looking forwards to the Assassins Creed 3 release on PC  popcorn

But Dishonored is pretty darn good... For once you don't necessarily have go killing everyone in sight as blood thirsty killing machine.

D3 is a disgrace to the franchise, please don't waste money on buying it.

I love games that let you approach things in multiple ways, allowing you to avoid directly fighting if you choose. Deus Ex is the same way.

Of course I still enjoy shooting stuff, which is why it's nice to have BioShock and Dead Space too.

Getting back to games like Battlefield from Dead Space is embarrassingly disorientating for me as I get the habit of aiming for non vitals. I have been playing a bunch of fighter games(which I admit I'm not great at) on my computer lately, mainly games like Street Fighter X Tekken and other independently made 2d fighters.

On the console front I have been playing Marvel vs Capcom 3 and Persona 4 Arena. I'm also picking up DOA5 to play when they resolve the bugs and balance with multiplayer.

I'm most looking forward to Deadspace 3 probably Battlefield 4(its in beta) and a international server for Phantasy Star Online 2. I wanted to play the Japanese servers but its kinda crowded but the people in there from what I know are pretty nice.

Is D3 really that bad? How so?

I've been playing the demo of RE6 a lot since I'm still on the fence about it. So far I'm leaning on not getting it because the player perspective is just weird. 1/3 of your character is basically blocking you (the player from seeing the screen). The story, gameplay and characters all seem interesting though so that's too bad :( RE5 was pretty fun because of the new two player element, but I liked 4 better as well.

It's really fun to watch. IMO it's more of a fun party game with an insane story reminiscent of Japanese pink films.

I used to play Tekken exclusively for almost a year but lately switched over to P4 Arena because of the character balance and the game elements which are similar to BlazBlue and Guilty Gear. The learning curve is difficult for most of the characters, and vs. battles can get pretty manic with a lot of stuff happening all at once. It's quite rewarding to master, and the online community is sizable. You won't have a problem finding matches.

The last one I've played from that series was Atelier Totori. I liked it a lot at first but eventually got bored because it got a bit repetitive and the characters were annoying. The open ended gameaplay and item harvesting element seemed very Japanese, kinda like Pokemon (unique areas that affect monster drops and item harvesting) but with potions.

I love Catherine too! The post game challenge (Babel) is insanely hard though :( I never finished it. Did you try?

I've also been into the Monster Hunter series on PSP for a really long time now. Try out Dragon's Dogma (a bit like Dark Souls and Skyrim. Stress on -a bit-) and Sleeping Dogs if you like HK kungfu cop movies.
