would have been surprised if this hadn't been done - and indeed it has, based on the claim that air is the best dielectric:

and in fact I have some of these (affordable) cables and interconnects

Much of that is crap, honestly. Also, what IS their dielectric? "Thin red" is not a material, last I checked. Is it Teflon, Kapton, what?

Likely enamel.

Maybe if I suspend this cable inside a grounded 8" metal pipe. Hmmm...

Make sure the inside of the pipe is a hard vacuum too.  Dielectrics don't get any better than that.

Has anyone tried using Cat 6 as an interconnect? Now that is a fun experiment if you're bored. I'm willing to bet money it's just like ALO SXC. I have both. That can be a good or bad thing...I prefer my Mogami.

BTW I used Monoprice Cat6/5. I think I had too much time on my hands. Working with Cat6 is like inflicting pain on yourself.

I used braided CAT5/6 (plenum w/ teflon) for speaker and headphone cables. No go for ICs. Prefer short lengths for ICs.

All my stuff is balancned now. With balanced ICs, there's so little difference if any, that I just use cheap stuff, i.e. Monoprice, Mogami, etc.

Right now with my ODAC I can barely tell much difference between interconnect cables, so I just use Monoprice or Mogami.
It seems like with my HRT MSII it was much easier. I must be imagining things.

I actually couldn't tell an ounce of difference between any ICs and headphones cables until I got a DAC (the HRT).
I wonder why? I had even tried to "hear" a difference between Mogami/Canare/Belden Q701 cables and couldn't do it (before the computer DAC)

When I use a portable setup it's just as hard. The biggest difference seem to be the level of volume I get.
When I use all Double Helix wire with my headphone and IC the setup can get to ridiculously  loud volume levels.
Should be a technical reason behind this and I need to read up on this. I especially noticed this volume difference when using DHC with my DJ100 using a Sansa Clip+
Easy to verify with a SPL meter I think. I should do this when I get bored.

I think the only reason I hear a difference is due to capacitance differences or something. I don't really have a clue, but that was my guess.

I think these guys interconnects must be No. 1 then. Since they have speaker cables for 40000 USD.
