No.  Just no...

You perceive bass with more than just your eardrum and the rest of that perception counts too.  Besides that, most people use headphones because they're small, portable, convenient, private, and don't disturb others.

I didn't "willingly" give up the whole body feeling of the bass.  I use headphones because speakers bother other people in the house.  I don't think too many other people would turn down a magical portable subwoofer that no one else but the user could hear or feel.  I sure as hell wouldn't.

When I said willingly give up the bass feel I assumed the convenience factor of headphones was included. Which is why 99% of people use headphones in the first place.

I think I just put it wrong, it's just that people know they just can't get the same bodily feeling of a sub when using HP's and accept that.

It is a lost cause but I don't think that just because it can't be done (at least with any current technology...) doesn't mean that we should lower our standards.

Never heard those.  My XB700s almost feel right when I listen to them at the right volume.  They sure don't sound right though...
