If you're terribly concerned, you could pay the extra and get them via Prime then return them.
I personally plan to get them again, but I'm a basshead. If you don't love visceral bass, don't bother. If you demand high detail elevated treble, don't bother.
The DX1000 have a uniquely romantic sound to them. They're euphonic, not remotely neutral.
For a true closed can, they have a great soundstage.
Their sound is so captivating to me that I still missed them after selling them in favor of the TH600.
I'll probably get the TH600/900 again too, but they have a 5kHz treble peak that I was never completely successful in taming. Or, I'll try the E-MU instead.
In any case the JVC HP-DX1000 is unique. It's not for everyone, but for those whom it appeals to, it won't let go of your ears.
