Let us give credit where credit is due. Napoleon was awesome for his time. He gave France the boost the monarchy could not give...

Anaxilus, until Waterloo the British shit their pants for the military genius of Napoleon.

Only since 1769. Prior to that it was Italian/Genovese.

Napoleon was as French as Hitler was German. Ethnicity versus national identity (in these cases opportunity).

One looks French, the other doesn't.

I'm confused Anax, do you consider the founding fathers as British citizens ?

By the way, Bonaparte was born in France, while Hitler was born in Austria, historically....

French,

I thought Napoleon was born in Corsica although at the time of his birth the island was transferred to France by the Republic of Genoa (courtesy Wiki) and certainly of Italian origin.

Just triple checked. Born in Corsica.

"Napoleon Bonaparte was born on August 15, 1769, in Ajaccio, on the Mediterranean island of Corsica. He was the second of eight surviving children born to Carlo Buonaparte (1746-1785), a lawyer, and Letizia Romalino Buonaparte (1750-1836). Although his parents were members of the minor Corsican nobility, the family was not wealthy. The year before Napoleon’s birth, France acquired Corsica from the city-state of Genoa, Italy. Napoleon later adopted a French spelling of his last name."

Did you just want to conveniently ignore my statement about ethnicity versus nationality? Obviously they were British citizens at one time... facepalm

John McCain wasn't born in the United States, is he not American? Obama's grandmother thinks he was born in Kenya. So...wtf is your point? Are you a birther??  :-0

Whatever he was he still ruled like an emperor. From petty officer to Emperor, keep your American dream. The French dream bigger.
