Perfect Sound D901
« on: June 19, 2015, 07:02:48 AM »

Perfect Sound brings to the market Spiderman's cans. These are also known as Dido901s. The cups are fold-able ala studio and the cable can be inserted in either side.

The Dildo911s are a bit on the heavy side of things, tight, and rest on my ears. So not comfy at all. Impedance is listed as 16 ohms, so I guess these are design to work from low impedance portables.

How do they look?

If bass and funness is what one is looking for, these will deliver. Treble is not too bad, but it's a little elevated. Punch and depth is skull crushingly satisfying, but it's also a bit grainy on certain songs. Anyhow, I think they are going for like $500 which is a bit on the expensive side of things. But if you dig Spidey then maybe they are worth it. Or maybe not.

Thank you for completely destroying my interest in these...

No seriously thanks for measuring these. I'd been eyeballing their seemingly all metal construction for far too long.

Bassssss....hehe

Are these punchy and deep?  I don't like it when a headphone only hits a certain note.  I'd rather it sound similar to the Atrio Mg8 where the bass doesn't bleed into the rest of the sound spectrum.

Looks like they retail for $799.... facepalm

Dildo's!!! LOL
I had a really hard time when writing my review for these on HF a bit ago --> http://www.head-fi.org/products/perfect-sound-d901b/reviews/10082

Regarding price, at the time I was comparing them to the Ultrasone Signature DJ which retailed for like $1000 (probably still does) and for the $780 they retailed I believe they did well and a good job of being a basshead can. Of course, I bought both way under their suggested retail price and I guess you can find them lower than $500 used. But, it has indeed been a couple of years and there are SO many headphones (basshead's or not) that in comparison and at those prices they are indeed overpriced!

Perfect Sound has their new "modular" D902... will see if I can get them on discount because last I heard/email received they were planning on retailing them for almost $900!!! Yikes... with the advent of so many good headphones, I'm not sure what Perfect Sound is aiming to do... I think they are trying to reach everyone with this new iteration (i.e. cups for home and cups for on the go with different tunings supposedly...) but at those prices and with headphones from NAD, AT to Master and Dynamics, etc., it will definitely be an uphill battle.

Thanks for measuring these ultrabike! :)

Welcome mate! I agree these not bad. They are a little heavy relative to their peers though.
