Unfortunately, a significant number of audiophiles subscribe to mysticism and/or exclusivity, hence the angle toward esoteric expensive cables and unobtainium tubes of specific markings and runes.

Think of special magic swords or armor in D&D or MMORPGs. It's more fun this way. A cheap mod which yields suitable results validated by measurements... no, that would be too easy.

This was my first thought in a fury of others. Sennheiser engineers their headphones so well any mods won't improve them, but somehow they overlooked the cable and dropping $300 on the cable will reduce cup resonance!
