I also have 325i and SR-80. Not a "Gradolover" by any means. Rather, they are a TYPE of useful transducer that fills the gap others IME** can't quite nail ...  e.g., the highly accurate and detailed midrange, that pace n' rhythm/dynamics/acceleration/snappiness thang, etc. (tho' not much).

** Haven't tried the V-Moda's. But I have a feeling they will out-do the Grados WRT speed and snap.

On pads ...the TTVJ flats reminds me of that mostly-useless Starving-Student socks mod that some-effin'-how got hyped on Head-effin'-Fi and Inner-effin'-Fidelity (free + gossip-driven + unexamined + non-fact-checked content seems to get priority on the Net! Anything that AdSense and PPC ads can use is fair play ... luv that easy $$$. eff the scientific method!! eff U!!!!) ...same philosophy WRT decreasing the ear-transducer distance.

Tylll/IF noted the taped L-cushions being subjectively best, at least for the 225's:
http://www.innerfidelity.com/content/evaluation-grado-stock-and-modified-ear-pads-page-3

My HP-1 and SR-80 were orig purch'd in 1993. Dunno if current Grado L-cushions have the same dimensions and material composition as origs. Methinks that waveguide has become a bit more conic for the latest batch???
I don't think there is such a thing as NOS pads ... even if NEVER used, THAT TYPE of foam has a certain "half-life". What I can't figure out is what exactly causes this TYPE of FOAM to rot (have experienced same thing with other manuf's cans as well as Sonex sound panels). I live in an environ. unpolluted & dry -- a region of the U.S. SW. And this rot occurs at about the same pace as when I lived in the US MidWest.

I use TTVJ flat pads with 3M Scotch ("Crystal Clear") Tape (and NOT electrical tape) around it. I prefer them by a wide margin to the bowls taped the same way. For me they are clearly the best Grado pads bar none.

Also it appears that they have changed foam recipe or manufacturer for their pads (example is for their L-cushion/bowl: ) http://www.head-fi.org/t/637314/grado-sr325i-ear-pad-cushion-variations#post_8886028

If those were in fact both new pads, and not just old/worn pads compared to new, then the ones on the "newer version" on the right is going to be warmer/bassier and more like flat pads.  Assuming no foam changes...

Those are different.  The one on the left has an extra bevel so it's not just wear.

Jesus Henry Christ ... it's THE Anax!!! ... thought you were in Banville, bubs? AGAIN!!  poo **
Changin' the effin' shape of the STOCK pad (in that H-F thread) may signif. change its FR/CSD -- e.g., the conic section/waveguide thang, changes its dispersion.
As far as my HP-1. I don't have the TTVJ's yet (tho' those are on my grocery list); I'm using a modded version of the L's with clear tape...and some socks and some of Rhythm's dirty drawz.
