i don't know what to say really. only thing i know is japan is a very open-minded country. i think it's just the cities though,cause i do know the country side of japan is still very traditional.

I do believe it's the 'work hard, play harder' mentality, they work QUITE hard, like in other Asian countries like Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, mainland China etc.
