Announcement - Official HIFIMAN Rep

Hey guys,

Just thought I'd make an official announcement here.

Since the incident here with HIFIMAN and Marv's comment on how HIFIMAN needs an actual digital marketing person, I've been doing some thinking. While I'm not an actual marketing guy, I do have knowledge of both the Head-Fi and Changstar community. I do think HIFIMAN has quality products, and deserves an opportunity in both the Head-Fi and Changstar community. Hopefully, with my involvement, this relationship will improve.

I asked Fang if I could help out. To my surprise, he agreed, and now I'm officially helping representing HIFIMAN.

I will still be an active member on Changstar, albeit a less vocal involvement. I rarely post on Head-Fi now, but I should be able to handle any customer service issues there that may come up.

In any case, just thought a formal announcement should be made at this point. You guys should feel free to message me about any concerns, and I'll try to get them answered as soon I as I catch up with all the material sent my way.

Excellent.  Dr. Fang has always been a great participant and generous to the Bay Area meets and I think their iems and planars are really nice.  I'm glad that HiFiMAN continues to be very proud of their new products and not afraid to share them with the community.  The modding spirit and trying to get the most out of the phones is a contribution and seems to have been a healthy back and forth between producer and user.  We all genuinely want and hope for good stuff.  Thanks for helping facilitate.

Just s suggestion, but I recommend that you avoid the corporate/marketing/management-speak. It makes those of us who are not corporate/marketing/management suspicious if not alienated. At least... the non-American not-corporate/marketing/management, and do remember that there are a lot us out here!

Nothing screams bullshit like going forward, moving on, working together to... and all that crap!

Mind you, this might be the first instance I've seen of actually "reaching out." So probably I'm just an over-sensitive Brit  :)p14

haha I suppose you could absolutely view it that way.

The last thing I need right now is to be under fire from both Head-Fi and Changstar. There are already a couple people not happy with the fact that I am a member on Changstar.

Not much I can do to prove otherwise at the moment. Just wait and see how it plays out. If I do a shitty job, feel free to be as vocally negative as you want.

There is a lot of cross membership between HF and Changstar. We have a different emphasis here that I think works well for HF since what would be considered critical analysis of gear here would be considered trolling or at the very least, raining on someone's parade over there. I don't see it as black-and-white them-or-us thing. Changstar is a way way more immature hangout though. We take audio seriously, but we don't take ourselves seriously.
