Is it just me or do those kinds of commercials have the opposite effect as they intend?  Kind of make me want to start calling things gay again.
Yeah, that commercial was pretty gay.   :P

 ;)

Anyways, back on topic. Purrin, do you mind posting these on HC T2 thread as well? These results probably explains why some people had problems with their transformers.

fuses have to swing both ways by nature in order to operate.  i think purrin's problem is not the fuse.

bro hug.

The amps in that amplifier are fairly high, and there are obviously some large storage components. They are not to be taken lightly.

I'm not very knowledgeable about fuses (I'm a DSP/DigiComm dude - IC/SoC kind of stuff), but the amps in that amplifier's transients are fairly high, and there are obviously some pretty large storage components (dunno if caps, magnetron, ... or what). They are not to be taken lightly... Back in the early '90 I had an Electrical Engineering advisor (PhD specialized in Radars if I remember right). One day he decided to fix his microwave, and that was the end of it... Just be careful guys.

indeed.  as a primary provider for a lovely wife and 2 toddlers, there's no way i will work with these high voltages.  i turned down the few KGSSHV and eXstata build requests i've received recently.

In rush current on the transformer causing the spike i take it.

4 Amp fuse is much too high for that amp, a 3A slo blow would be ideal i would think seeing that the operating power usage is at 250Watts.

What sort of in rush current limiter is the amp using?

The LL burns a pitiful 75-80 watts in comparison :P. I don't have to worry about crazy inrush currents however with the R-core tranny.

ANd oh so much gayness on this thread :P

LOL. no currently limiter! Woohoo! Three transformers.

Just a matter of finding a quality 3A fuse. I'm not even sure if we can get datasheets/curves for the Rat-Shack stuff.
