We used to have a fish tank next to the bed. Inside there was a comet goldfish that would wake you up every morning by spitting water on you. We named it Monica after Lewinsky.

My first cat was an excellent alarm clock. Whilst she never actually got as far as wielding the baseball bat, she used to paw me in the face, and would gradually add extended claws until she got the desired reaction... breakfast.
