One gets the feeling that AKG are trying to get rid of headphones that haven't been so successful by re-numbering them and selling them at lower prices through Massdrop. Fingers crossed for a K8XX dropping at some point.

Got to play with mine today, driven by an iDSD and then Gungnir+LAu. For how much the drop was, I cannot be happier ;D
Build quality is awesome and real comfy.

From my limited experience, I find there's a slight emphasis on the bass and for whatever reason, it's ever so slightly laid back on the iDSD but otherwise I like what I'm hearing. Oh, there's also something about the treble that bothers me but I cannot seem to put my finger on it. Seems a little… inconsistent and changes from album to album. Not something that bothers me too wildly, but I just don't seem to find it on, say the HD800 (probably for obvious reasons). And the soundstage I find quite wide but basically flat. Wonder if anyone else finds i the same way…?

As I'm a noob, could someone please explain what the anomalies shown in the measurements above might manifest themselves as? Basically, looking at those plots what weirdness I should look out for so I can get a better understanding of them plots - specially the 4k second order distortion.

So far, IMO these are really good value, solidly built and inoffensive in the best sense of the word. I'm not amazed, but I feel I could do much worse for my $.
