Yeah that may be over the top. Maybe Kim Kardashian West will pull it off.

The watch is stupid and ugly.
But it is from apple and it is 2014 so people from US, China and Middle East will buy them.

I could care less if anybody spends 17k on the Apple Watch, but I certainly don't think they shouldn't be allowed to live for it.  If the 17k ends up as a good investment, or a purchase that holds and retains its value, then there's nothing fundamentally wrong with it.  Given the rate of growth of tech though, most likely not, but it's their purchase anyways. By the same merit you could just as easily trash someone's idea of buying an Orpheus system for 20,000 or a Rolex watch.  I know I personally won't be getting an Apple Watch.  I don't even have an iPhone to begin with, so I couldn't even use the watch if I wanted to.

Right. Isn't that all exactly what I said in my posts? None of that adds up to 'leading the way' in laptop dev for me.

Btw, I'm pretty sure none of those trashed Macbooks occurred in a combat environment. Just food for thought about the benefits of over-engineering.

If 'leading the way for laptop innovation' involves making the most durable product for you, then so be it.  It doesn't for me.  I wouldn't have bought an Air if I wanted to ram it into walls at 35mph.

As a reply to your earlier post... how do you even come off saying 'don't bullshit me saying Apple leads the way in laptop development'?  I never once said they did.

I personally just wouldn't call buying a 17k watch with a battery that is gonna die after two years if you use daily an investment.

Come on dude. An investment? It's all phony, it's just the regular watch with gold slathered on it. There's nothing special about it at all. Imagine if Apple sold a $17,000 first gen iPhone, the one that was limited to the EDGE network and probably can't be updated past like iOS 4. What kind of investment would that be? Who'd want that now?

Orpheus prices have gotten rather silly, but the Orpheus does something that the HD800 doesn't. The gold Apple watch has none of that. It's functionally identical to the $350 version. The usable life span of a Rolex is 60+ years. How long is that battery going to last in the $17,000 Apple watch? Two, three years tops? Within 5 years the first gen watch will be functionally obsolete, and you'll have a $17,000 paper weight.

That was in reference to my reply to antifocus which was the main context of my entire post. If you don't believe Apple leads the way, then obviously the comment didn't apply to you.

And yes, I think at least being able to not fracture your screen when dropped from a 30" at 9.8 meters per second per second, or permanently deforming your chassis might be something basic for Apple to look into (when they aren't too busy drinking and banking their profits).

Does Apple even have a water resistant 'nano-coating' on a single electronic device yet? I suppose none of this matters when you pay full price to lease your devices every few months.

Lenovo has been my go-to recommendation nice windows hardware. But since the Superfish seppuku, I don't know what to suggest to friends.
