Haha, no problem. I just noticed that myself. I was wondering when they'd come out with a solution for that, but... I guess that settles it.

This + a Wacom Cintiq 13HD seems like all I'd want/need for the upcoming while. Perfectly portable and functional. My 2012 MacBook Retina is much more powerful, and much more spacious, but it doesn't support a 4K display at 60Hz, and I think I'd want to get one of those eventually.

And it's still a fanless device, so that's the main draw for me. Mechanical fans and big openings for them scare me because I've owned computers that I have had to service some 3-4 years down the line.

Also this one seems like the battery can be replaced fairly easily, too...

^ Dammit! I'm already talking myself into it!

I'm probably going to replace my 15" rMBP with one of these... I have the 5k iMac as a main anyway.

Yeah...

Oh, and USB-C doubles as Thunderbolt. I think we'll see adapters for that at some point, but... looking at how many Thunderbolt adapters/accessories are available on the market (not a lot), I can see why Apple would want to transition to USB-C instead.

Welp... my top config late-2012 15" rMBP will be up for sale soon if anyone would like to grab it. I don't game anymore, and I've also gotten a desktop setup, so I'll for sure replace the 15" MacBook with this one.

Holy shit the whole thing is basically battery.  That's actually pretty awesome.

Yep. And it gets pretty good battery life. 10 hours watching videos or 9 hours browsing the web.

Now... I'd be curious about how much it'll run doing things like normal Office tasks... browsing the web and listening to music all at once.

If it stays above 5 hours on average (wishful!), then I think it's a done deal for me. I've been wishing for a fanless MacBook forever.

one port for everything? RLY?!  facepalm
Keyboard also looks shitty, looks like some cheap one that cost 10 bucks for tablets, but maybe it's because I'm mechanical keyboard lover and no one cares about the keyboard.
I would get the Air over it at any day...

This keyboard is mechanical too, they went into great detail about the keyboard's innovations.  The keyboard is quite intriguing, I actually wish they'd implement those advances on all of their other products.

I'll dink with it, but it seems too pricey for my blood. The keyboard (which apparently has less travel than the surface keyboard for the SP3 which drove me nuts) and haptic trackpad will most likely drive me nuts. There's also the fact that this is almost double the price I paid for an XPS 13 with . Also, for audio, I get inconsistent USB performance out of my 15" rMBP and I can't imagine this will be significantly better.

OH! But I can shave off .5 lbs of weight and 1.5mm of thickness (from the thickest point of my XPS 13) and pay $617 more than I paid for an i5 5200u/8GB of RAM/1080p variant.

I was pretty shocked at how small that logic board was.  I think it would have turned out better if they put that in the current macbook airs instead and then have given them like 20 hours of battery life with the new space.

Maybe the advancements in space saving can mean apple will finally put a better gpu in their imacs... probably not though.

I didn't realize the keyboard had little to no travel. Yuck. Surface Pro type keyboard is about as far as I'll go in that regard. ZD, I'm surprised to hear your rMBP has inconsistent USB...I thought they were supposed to be good for those sort of purposes based on everything I've read, but I can't say I've had much experience with their Mac line.

So, looks like the only real benefit is the fanless design? Only a matter of time before we see a ton of Core-M Windows tablets and laptops.
