Bwahahahaha!  :)p13

(kinda reassuring to know my ears are good enough to do channel matching to be that tight, and also pick out all of that stuff in the midrange as far as FR goes, though I'm still off by 500-1000Hz there, but the shape!? LOL And I'm waaaayyyy off where treble and bass go)

Okay... moving forward, I think the bass and treble can obviously be worked on since... I merely threw everything together as fast as possible for my dad to have a late night listen. Some proper damping will probably allow the bass and treble to even out.

Crossover point really is 5-6KHz, as adjusting the knobs go from 0 to -3dB from 6KHz up.

One last note: these look obviously like someone else worked on them, so I don't think they're representative of a stock SE-50. Still, they're for my old man, and he obviously loves his midrange (hey, he's my dad), so... I think I'll leave this pair the way it is. All things considered, it's not waaayyy off in the most important range, so I don't think he'll mind.

Awesome. Actually not too bad considering the esoteric approach by today's standards, and the age of these cans.

BTW, moved topic to Headphone Measurements. Great job Bill! :money:

Thanks, ultra!  :money:

First post updated with links to relevant information.

I think I'll attempt modding and all later on. There is still a lot of potentials for bi-amping with active crossover, replacing the internal capacitors/resistors for a different filter, and also balancing by making cable entry for both sides. Also the ear cups are el-cheapo plastic covered in some really thick foamy thingy (that's the white stuff) so... I'm thinking wood ear cups or alternatives would be good as well. Lots of modding potential. Big drivers to play with, and... it's cheap. $50 for a used one, so... yep.

 :)p1

And the midrange at stock is not bad at all. Actually better than a lot of cans under $200 still IMO.
