I like that.  I have a PAM 88 but it's a bulky watch.

Not much of a watch person, only owning one nice watch, a Certina DS First Day-Date auto 40.3mm (~$650):

After buying that back in 2011, I was content, not having interest in anything else until I saw the massdrop junk mail in my box today with a striking watch in the preview image. It was a Seiko Alpinist (39.5mm) JDM auto with a beautiful green/gold/steel look.

https://www.massdrop.com/buy/seiko-alpinist-watch?utm_source=Sailthru&utm_medium=email&utm_term=Community%20-%20Uncategorized%20-%20MAU%20%28Inactive%29&utm_campaign=Uncategorized%20IA%20Product%20Announcement%202015-07-11&mode=guest_open&referer=V4SSZZ

It's not as well made as my Certina, but it is handsome and half the price. I wish it came with the bracelet, but even the bracelet seems to be entry level and near $200 itself. Considering picking it up just because it is beautiful, maybe leave the leather on, despite it being poor quality, and using it more for dress.

I've gotten several compliments on the Certina over the years I've owned it, mostly people not familiar with the Certina brand (part of Swatch group), which is sold in Europe, but not here. I ordered mine from a shop in Spain.

Ughh. Finally saw a Rolex I actually like. Grrr....

Of course, the color scheme is ripped of from an Omega Planet Ocean. GG Rolex.

I definitely like the look of the Rolex more than that particular Omega. Love the 'seconds' hand as well!!

I usually buy cheaper watches and had participated on Helgray's Kickstarter and they are finally going to start shipping this month! Got this one:

You had me right up to the lightning bolt second hand. No thanks. Reminds me of the Melbourne Portsea, which is actually quite the looker for the price, right up until you hit that STUPID little "M" that serves as the counterweight for the second hand. Way to blow it guys.

The Seiko Alpinist drop ended without me spending money, so I'm sort of sad, but glad at the same time.

Just upgraded my 2 yo Victorinox Dive Master 500 automatic watch (241561) from the gray vinyl wristband it came with, since the second (and last) strap retainer ring finally broke.  Rather than replacing the whole vinyl wristband for wont of a new strap retainer ring, I lucked into finding a new PVD gunmetal/'black ice' SS watch band from another similar obsoleted Vic diver watch that perfectly matches my Diver 500 PVD gunmetal/black ice model watch, and just in time for my b'day.

So now I've got a hybrid SS Diver 500 mechanical watch in all gunmetal gray that's fairly unique.  Arrrgh!

Anyone into smart watches? Most of the smart watches I've seen so far don't even try to style like normal watches. I wasn't interested at all. So when I spotted the Huawei watch I was immediately interested.

They just announced Sept 17th availability and options/pricing. Pre-orders also opened up today at their own page, www.gethuawei.com, best buy, amazon, and google's store.

Basic steel + leather is $350 up to gold plate with matching bracelet at $800.

Given the more classical styling (vs other smart watches) it seems to be worth the price. I think I will get a steel with bracelet (links, not mesh) at $400, though the black with bracelet looks very nice as well. I don't think the black would look good on my wrist, however.

I like that it is a slightly bigger case than my Certina (39 vs 42), but quite a bit smaller than the Moto360 (46mm).
