The Jaeger's very handsome. Its spareness is consistent (the number marks and hands; the stark, clean whiteness of the face), and the moon phase keeps it from being too spare whilst being subtle enough not to interfere with its simplicity. Great choice! :)p1

On the Rolex, I have a hard time with the rotating numbers together with the magnified date but tastes differ.

Thanks for the JLC love, it's pure class.

The rolex is understandably more a mixed bag (although my female patients are all high-fiving me). The cyclops is a funny thing. At least the magnified date matches the size and approximates the font of the time numerals. I'm happy with the rolex being a thing I like, but that doesn't attract others. Anti-bling.

Ceetee's rolex style is a classic:

Dittos on the JLC. That blue Rolex would have been more my speed. But I understand the need for oversized numbers when doing a low light HALO drop or submarine insertion behind North Korean lines.

This is much more my speed. Something about the magnified date to me just screams walkers and hearing aids. If I can't otherwise read the date, I'd rather just not have it there at all.

I like that too but at that point it's really like a classic Seiko my dad used to wear which I'd prefer to go with anyhow. Where classic Rolex is concerned, I'm just more of a Seiko/Omega guy. Chicks dig the crown though I suppose.

Ceetee's rolex style is a classic:

Mine had the numbers like yours but that blue dial. Combo of both!

Yeah, to be clear some of the Air Kings are a Rolex that I can tolerate, not necessarily something I'm going to buy. I'll take one of these as a daily driver over anything made by Rolex.

^Interesting, I grabbed one of these Sea-Gull M-17 watches when they went up on Massdrop:  https://www.massdrop.com/buy/sea-gull-m17-watch/talk

And it was actually an Air King that I had, now that you mention it.  http://o-watches.com/uploadfile/other_20113922455657.jpg  (Explorer didn't sound right but it looked correct.)

As much as I like the way blue-faced watches look as objects, they're too sporty / flashy for me to actually wear. :(

Jaeger and Zenith make some nice pieces.  Maybe someday when I make partner. . .

Is anyone else a fan of Frederique Constant?  They have everything from Swiss quartz to their own in-house movements.  For folks who like a cut out on the face, they make some reasonably priced models.  I've worn the Carree Classic with a black face for a number of years.  It is my dress watch when I wear suits.

That's a nice Zenith.

Speaking of blue, I really like blued hands and numerals on watches.

I almost bought this, with a new, much, much better movement for 2015

It's a little hockey puckish, and it's only watch resistant to 3 bar (hand-washing and rain, maybe). I spent the same amount on the rolex and JLC together that I would have paid for this.

Out of my league:

and

Both $50,000 ish platinum models.
