Haha.  Ouch.  What a backlash on the R brand.

It's common here because of the liquidity and 2 hand value.  Many people says it's convenient to be ready to  flee anytime with it.
Seems like Patek Phillipe would be a good choice for fleeing.

That might even be their motto. " You never actually own a Patek Phillipe. You simply take care of it until you arrive safely in another country."

Sounds like a bad idea.

Most buyers will only purchase a secondhand watch if the documents and packaging are intact, and airports will sometimes tax your ass if you have both of these. My friend got taxed a huge chunk for bringing in a Patek flying HK to mainland, and all he had on him were the documents.

Seriously, he was just wearing it and they went through his stuff and found the documentation for it?

Of course, I don't think the idea is to flee to a police state but rather from one.

Watches as investment are maybe not so easy to pull off?

In other news:

And here's Vanessa wearing a JLC Reverso!

and whoever this is!

No, he had something in his luggage when it was scanned that looked suspicious I guess, so they told him to open up his suitcase. They went through his stuff and sent him straight to customs, lol.

Watches are a great investment. Big auction houses like Christie's and Sotheby's have been putting a lot of resources into their watch departments, and then there are online sites like Chrono24 (go here immediately if you haven't already done so, AG for watches). Antiquorum is probably the largest auction house dedicated to timepieces.

And here's Vanessa wearing a JLC Reverso!
very important news...!

I am seriously looking into an Omega Aqua Terra GMT chorine 44mm... is that too big? my concern is of it's weight, and the huge size being out of fashion in a  few years ...   and also, i am concerned about the 3603 movement.  http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=212194

That's big.

I'd go with the 8500 movement, it's higher-end eta with some other magic sprinkly stuff, apparently.

Diane Kruger with a JLC watch

Does anyone read The Watch Snob's blog on askmen.com? It's kinda hilarious.

Wow, that first shot is probably the most unflattering angle of her I've ever seen. Here she is stunning as Genghis Khan.

There might be a watch somewhere in there, not sure.

I like this one:

And I'm a little in love with this model.

Here's another view with the JLC Reverso

and

The watches are nice, too:

This is stunning:

Okay, let's open this up to everyone.

He's a handsome fellow, I'm sure. And wearing a JLC men's reverso

But, some of you are looking for something more. Something, polo

The JLC reverso was actually made originally for Polo players who asked for a watch which could have the crystal face flipped over for protection.
He's wearing this:

She could break your arm, while riding a horse:

Here's Al Pacino, wearing a custom JLC:

Gentile or Jew
O you who turn the wheel and look to windward,
Consider Phlebas, who was once handsome and tall as you.

and back to this model:

She's wearing JLC's Master Compressor line:
