You're right I have no friends (IRL). Oh well, I'll live.

My best friend in high school turned into a drug addict drunkard who left his wife and kids a few years after we graduated. I've not really been close to anyone since then. Don't have a lot of faith in people these days.

What do you do for work Max?  I bet not having strong interests out in the world is making it difficult to meet people.  Once you're out of school, it's either work or hobbies.  And headphones can be a pretty isolating hobby.

@ RD - I work at a violin shop repairing, selling, renting violins and such. I also handle most of the accounting stuff. Only the boss, his wife, and me, so certainly no coworkers to buddy with. Yeah I'm pretty isolated, but I've sort of created it for myself and I'm fine with it. I could really stand a new job, perhaps that would change everything for the better, not just my paycheck.

@ RA - Well I didn't really intend for this to get to a personal level, but I don't mind it either. I figured nobody would even reply to this thread, hence the title. It was more for my amusement than anything. No sarcasm in that post, fortunately or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it. I don't feel I'm depressed, I've always been alone (sister is 8 years older, so was off to college when I was 10) so it's natural for me. Perhaps I'm depressed and don't recognize it. I am pretty negative about most things, but I'm always eager to meet Head-fiers at meets as people at Dallas, Austin and RMAF can attest, so maybe I'm just negative about people/things I deal with daily around here and need something from outside to break the negativity for a brief time. My trip to Austin last month in particular was really enjoyable. Even aside from the meet I enjoyed the drive, the quirky hotel, and the food at the restaurants I ate at there.

The hobby thing really boils down to this: I'm an obsessively meticulous perfectionist, as I've said before, and when I think of what I want, I know exactly what I want, but doubt I could ever create, outside of my imagination, that same thing. It's a common failing most people have, but it keeps me from doing much of anything, so it's probably on the more extreme side.

I have a longstanding online friendship with a guy I met on an overclocking forum about 10 years ago who lives in Georgia. Maybe I should take a vacation some time and meet him for once. We talk all the time and share video/pics on Skype.

Maybe I should rename this thread 'Get to know your friendly neighborhood Maxvla'

---

Oh and who gave me negative karma? LOL

I think some traveling would do you some good.  Out of the USA.  Get out of your comfort zone, see a different way of life.  Get exposed to people, ideas, experiences you wouldn't normally in your routine.

Cool job by the way!  Don't you get interesting customers coming in?  I played the violin for 7 years or so.  Wish I hadn't quit...

And headphones can be a pretty isolating hobby.

Thumbs up pun  :-*

maxvla- do you play any sports or interested in playing sports? Your life sounds pretty dull right now.

My friends and I joined a softball and whiffleball league a couple of years ago and our group of like 10 people that hang out regularly doubled in a few months after joining these sports leagues. You don't even have to be any good. I don't know how old you are, but I'm 28 and that seems to be the average age give or take in these sports drinking leagues.

I will definitely give you that it is harder to meet people once you're done HS/college/grad/professional schooling.

Human companionship is the way to happiness (plenty of medical studies demonstrate it as well). Not headphones, amps and any other shit. That should just be a distraction.
