I chose U87Ai but honestly I would choose different mics according to the songs. Some did certain stuff better than the others. The U87Ai was versatile enuf though.

OJ, thanks for putting these up. Really helps me isolate and identify sounds, esp since volume matching is not an issue.

This one is much harder than the USB mics. I am currently leaning towards the TLM102, but the electric guitar and drums portions are missing from the U 47 track! I am keen to hear that last bit before I can say conclusively, since I found no major flaw with the U 47 up to that point.

I felt like the plosives in the M147 were more obvious than the others, so maybe the consistent mic is intentional?

Yep I felt the TLM67 sounded highest fidelity by my metrics. Seemed to have the best balance of qualities. The U47 Tube seemed to be the softest sounding while the M147 Tube was the most dynamic. Maybe we're noticing a level matching issue there. Funny how the tube mics spanned both ends of that spectrum. TLM102 seemed the brightest or most forward, but I didn't like it's vocal quality or how it makes strings a bit too edgy/dry. On revisit, the TLM67 is quite "wet" sounding in comparison.

None of these can be said to be bad mics though. All sound quite good and might be used to complement one another in a studio.

First one may be the most neutral but the singer may have been farther from the mic? I like the third ones warmth and combination of a lack of a strange response best though vs the others besides the first one so M147and U87ai would be a tie for me. I would use one or the other depending on how it blends with the other instruments of a recording.

Personally, I liked the M147 and U47 the best.Thought that these two resolved the low level information better than others.My nod was to the M147 which sounded a bit more upfront which I enjoyed although I can see enjoying overall balance of U47 more in the long run.
Would have been interesting if we had the complete set of recordings for the U47 too.
