Theta was single mode. Mike is crazy.

It was also a $1000 option at the time. Ouch.

The scheme of things back in that day, a $1000 well spent!

Wow! single mode!? At the very least one can feel comfy that if things went down SQ-wise anywhere in a fully funtional rig, the Tetas interface was proly not it. Single mode fiber, laser driver and laser = Hi-Crazy-End + Not-cheap.

That's VERY unusual indeed. Wouldn't say Mike was crazy though, he may only have gone slightly overboard  ;D.

Have some 1310 receivers (155MBd) kicking about doing nothing, but only ECL out should you need/want them.

Really two choices:

1. External converter box like an Offramp, but with ST out. Problems being in the conversion of USB to ST, and formatting (does it come out SPDIF? Likely, that's what Theta used for ST.)

I think that kind of product would be awesome, i don't know if its possible to do but many cd/dvd players has s/pdif coax out, so coax in and USB in and then ST out. I would buy two of those, thank you 8)

Marvey, you said you did get the Theta working with Audio-gd transports current output (#2)?
Thats odd, i can't get the current output to work from my Audio-gd DI-DSP to my Theta...
