SA5000 Frequency Response and CSD Waterfall Plots

They are not that bad if you don't crank them up. Noise floor set to -35db.

i always knew they had good amount of air. that's why i always liked them listening low-levels. guess that can explain the clarity they have too. the bass seems very uneven from 100hz. guess that can explain the leanness(besides the major dip). i still like them though. i wonder would each set vary? i wonder if sony ever had any QC issues. i wonder how the v6's that's still kicking since the 70's would do.

have to look on the bright side though. i see graph art potential.

ohhh yea, almost forgot, appreciate your work as always.

Am I reading it wrong or is there a dip at 3-4k followed by ringing? That seems weird to me. I'm guessing that has something to do with the physical design with the layout of the drivers and reflections?

Yeah, that's pretty normal. In many cases dips are really peaks being cancelled by reflections. Their true nature is revealed in the CSDs over time.

even though they show a dip in the bass like that i never found them bass light really. yea they sounded bit leaner than the DF's but not by much. even though they don't measure super great i actually like the sa5000 a lot. they also work really well as gamer headphones as well cause recently i been playing Alan Wake with them.

wonder though is the reflections cause inside the chamber where pad area is or it's basic reflections within the outer part of the cup where believe the opening is, cause from what i know they're actually not a true open design. i also wonder if the plastic rings protecting the driver has anything to do with it. one thing i can say is the type of plastic they're made of the enclosure can get lot of mechanical vibrations transfered through-out the cup. you can hear it when you rub the cable with your finger nail but it's only noticeable in a dead quiet room.
