New member saying hello to all, have been lurking for a while now. I usually don't post much, but look forward reading honest opinions.

Excited about getting new EC amp soon.

Thanks all!

Welcome!

Not a big fan of using the hd800s for doujin music, but the UERM works fairly well! My hd650 setup and speaker setup work very well for just about everything though :)
ARIA fan here :D
Personally hd800 works nice for my usages, probably partly due to that I don't listen loud.
Haven't listened to the hd650 and hd600 for very long, and never tried them on proper decent setup to be frank. IIRC old impressions were that I'd take hd598 over them on modest setup, for the better comfort and slightly more 'exciting' or less mid-centric sound..

I use HD650 for Doujin, Touhou, and Anime music, sounds great.

P.S. I think you just made a friend out of Gunner  ;D

You should definitely try out the hd650s again with your current setup. They open up a lot with a high end setup, especially when you perform some simple mods on them. I only have a modest Valhalla 2 but the hd650 sounds damn good out of the valhalla 2 and the Yggy.

And Aria is amazing! It's my favorite anime :P

I agree with Gunner 100% on that. Except I have the bifrost uber not the Yggy (Yggy is by far a better DAC so that gives you an idea of how good the 650's are)

Yea thats something I might consider even just for the sake of trying.. Currently another idea of similar cost is to get some Stax Lambdas, since I have a Kgsshv lying around unused orz

Not getting anything soon though, as I just ordered an Eizo EV2750 few days ago, gotta limit a bit..

  • You'd do it for Randolph Scott.

I'm thinking either getting the HD650 or HD800 to have a good dynamic next to the HE560 planar. I think you're right where the HD650 would work better with the anime music that I listen to.

It really depends on what you like/dislike about the he-560, and what you're looking for with the senns. It also depends on what your current gear is as well. IME, amps that work well with the he-560 (speaker amps) won't work well with the senns (OTL tube amps). Of course there are high end amps that handle both types well.

HD800 for listening to non-anime/doujin music. TBH, it's kind of a waste to get the hd800s if you mostly listen to that stuff like I do. That's why I sold my pair a while ago. Now if I had a nice EC amp to go with my yggy, that might be a different story xD.

HD650 is great for just about everything, when paired with a revealing amp and dac. Smooth throughout the whole FR, and a touch of extra bass for some fun factor. But at the same time, they are very resolving for when you want to listen to well recorded music.

After spending some time with the he-560s, modded and unmodded, I just couldn't take the treble with most of the music that I listened to.

mechgamer123 uses the STAX SR-Λ and STAX SR-202 to listen to his anime/doujin music and he enjoys that. But he's also kind of a treble head as well.
