Hi everybody,

I have been reading this site for awhile and I decided it's about time that I join. I have always loved music but I am just relatively recently giving a damn about my equipment. Plus a former roommate ruined me with his 5.1 tricked system and since he moved out I have noticed a void in sound quality ever since.

I pursue this hobby mainly as a DIY enthusiast. I also am interested in cheap products that overachieve. I like the measurement driven approach of this site and I would like to contribute data whenever I get a measurement setup going. I plan to specialize in reviewing some DIY amp kits or other cheap amps that just don't get coverage anywhere else. Sure I'll find a lot of crap, but I also might find a diamond in the rough.

Hi guys,

Long time Head-Fi member, and only knew about this site as some mysterious place that no one over there wanted to talk about.  I then discovered this site recently from Tyll's HD800 mod article.

I got into headphones seriously in 1994, and then after a few years of fun and exploration, I kind of settled down with a system that was good enough, but recently because of Schiit, I've been interested again. My list of equipment in roughly chronological order (that I still have):

- Headroom Supreme (that I learned about in Stereophile), Ety 4S, and HD580
- Sennheiser HE60 and HEV70
- AKG K1000 + SAC amp
- Senn HD600
- Senn HD650
- 2nd gen Headroom Max
(long break)
- Schiit Asgard
- Apple dual-driver IEMs + Ety flanges (for airplanes)
- Centrance DACport LX
- Centrance HiFi-M8
- new-to-me HD800 on its way
- Bottlehead Crack + Speedball kit on its way

Plus various DACs moving in and out from the main system (eg. Theta Pro Prime IIA, modded Parts Connection DAC2, Rotel CD player). Main system BTW is based on a pair of gen 1 Linkwitz Orions, with Plutos as surrounds, and a Lexicon MC-12HD and Logitech streamer. It's far from a purist audio system, but I enjoy the heck out of it, and it's very difficult to find a better speaker than the Orions at any price besides its successors.

Most of my music is from my large CD collection that I've been ripping piecemeal. My main interest is classical music, and I try to listen to as much of it live as possible. I'm lucky to live within driving distance of the LA Phil, and the amazing Disney Concert Hall, and had been a subscriber for over 10 years, before Dudamel took over. Talented guy, but I'm not a fan.

I would say I'm an objectivist and have been trained that way as an engineer, but I know enough to know that there's lots of weird stuff that happens, so I try to be skeptical of both objectivist and subjectivist claims, with skepticism rising proportionally to the extremism of either side.

Glad to be here, and it's fascinating reading past threads.

Karma for the K1000.

Hi! :)p2

Joining mainly because I've always liked how changstar combines objectivity and subjectivity.
The tipping point ended up being the impression you gave at "big sound", how bloody correct Marv ended up being about HD650 vs LCD3F (bought and sold within a week, still made a profit) and a mild desire to sign up to anax 3.0 list. I'm yet to decide on that last one, hell I don't even own a pair of HD800.

So what do I do...?

Well I'm a Swede bored with Swedish politics wasting my life gaming and working as a salesman for now going into university next year. Eh... that's it I think.

Hey guys!    ahoy

A friend got me into the hobby and also heard about this site from him. He got a lot of good advice from other members and hopefully I can have the same good experience too. Doing this for about a year now, I'm still pretty new to the whole "audiophile" hobby and so far it's been a blast (spending money remorselessly). As of now the gear that I have:

- Audio GD NFB-10ES2
- Geekout 450
- ibasso DX50
- Phillips Shoqbox SB7300
- Sennheiser HD580 w/ balanced 4 pin cable
- Ultimate Ears Reference Monitors
- VSonics VSDS3
- JBL Synchroes Reflect

Looking forward to being a part of the community and stop lurking around lol

Cheers!

Who's your friend?  I'd like to pre-judge you based on whether I find this person acceptable.  :P

Just joined I peruse the Computer Audiophile and Head-Fi forums.  I joined Changstar after watching the Big Sound 2015 with Hands and Anax.  Understand that I am a complete noob when it comes to the engineering side of sound.  I build computers, game, listen to sweet music (trance, hip hop, and rock and roll primarily).   I will give my opinion but please keep in mind that I am a noob so I may not have the perfect reviews I just call it how I see it.  I definitely believe that how headphones/dacs/amps are very subjective but hope someone around here might have similar ears when listening.
