Hi! I'm more of a lurker than a poster but I've been trying to get a little more involved.

I'm currently running an Asgard 2 and Bifrost Uber into a pair of unmodded HD800s. I'd love to upgrade to the Yggy and/or other high-end equipment but $$$ and space do not allow it. I figure my endgame is going to be a multibit Bifrost and a smooth sounding solid state amp. The Black Widow is tempting.
I've also got a small, modest vinyl setup consisting of a Pro-Ject Debut Caron Esprit SB (what a mouthful) with a Lounge Audio LCR phono pre-amp and an Emotiva mini-X into a pair of Ascend Acoustics Sierra-2s.
I've got an AK Jr. and a pair of Noble K10Us for when I'm on the go. I know the K10s don't get a lot of love here but I'm kind of sensitive to treble when it comes to IEMs and so I love them.

I love this hobby even though I'm not great at describing what I hear (I've shared my opinions on things in private because I'm afraid of being wrong in public) and I think I have ears of tin. I live in northern Jersey and as far as I know there aren't a lot of places to try out new equipment and there aren't any meets around here (not that I'd go anyway haha) so I haven't heard a large variety of equipment. I have to go mostly by what I read so your commentary and opinions have been very valuable to me.

I'm always trying to learn more about setups and describing sound and this site is a big help. I really appreciate the blunt honesty here compared to the other site. Not tip-toeing around calling bad things bad is really refreshing.
Don't really feel like I fit in with a lot of you guys seeing as my music taste consists of a lot of new pop and emo and I'm more of a politically correct left-leaning type of person but I'm glad to be aboard nonetheless. :)p7

Welcome iKhaos  ahoy

About your musical tastes, did you notice Kirosia? He adores Taylor Swift.

We still like him here so to quote Frank Zappa "Freak Out" because why would we mind? Besides original Pop still exists. I consider Skrillex and Diplo's "Where Are Ü Now" as original. They nailed their sound on that single so there is enough to enjoy.

Hey! Been an occasional lurker on here, finally decided to join up. Been in the hobby for about seven years now with a bit of ebb and flow. Mainly listen to speakers with some occasional dabbling in headphones. Current main system is a Fet Audio DAC, DCB1 preamp and Presonus studio monitors. Headphone setup has a Matrix M Stage, multiple headphones and a Behringer SRC2496.

Previous iteration of the main setup was heavily on the tube side. Lampizator DAC, Rethm Gaanam amplifier and Rethm Saadhana speakers. Decided to downsize last year (the ebb part of the ebb and flow I mentioned above).

Looks like I'm getting into flow mode again with an itch to upgrade the monitors and the DAC. Lets see how long I hold out .... ;)

Love that Gaanam amp....welcome

Greetings pirates,

I come before you as a humble lurker, expelled from a dark place, seeking asylum, enlightenment and entertainment.

('Yeah, yeah, I'm banned from Head-Fi.' - 'Why did such a thing happen to you, good sir?' - 'Because I told an admin to go fuck himself.' - 'Well now, that is no gentlemanly thing to do! Why would you do such a thing?' - 'Cause he 'redacted' all my posts supporting a user who found the sound of a number of DACs indistinguishable.' )

Also: I listen to country music. Only. And I'm a european atheist, who's hard left politically and dislikes guns and trucks. Go figure. Waylon forever though.

Greetings pirates,

Welcome!

You sure you want to be here? You do realize that a substantial portion of folks here try encourage each other to spend a lot of money on a good source including megabuck turntables and DACs. (Provided they are not poo. For example, we'll call out super expensive items that don't justify their price - cough cough Hugo cough cough)

Well... will you delete my posts if I question or deny the sonic differences between certain DACs? If not, I guess I've come to the right place.

they might not delete your posts, but that doesn't mean you'll enjoy your time.

Welcome anyway.

No, we prefer not to delete stuff if it can be helped. There might be rigorous discourse however that requires the application of literacy, validity and cogency. People usually get into trouble once they demonstrate an obvious lack of 2 out of 3.
