Hey! I recently purchased a Hifiman HE400S - partly because I wanted to hear it and also because I wanted to buy an untested headphone - One that the community has to try and figure out - I want to see how my experience with the phone fits with the broader discussion. A lot of headphones I've had in the past were tried and tested machines: M50's, 600's DT770's etc. I'm curious to see how the discussion of the 400S grows, in what directions and also if any kind of consensus can be reached.
That all sounds a bit analytical... but it's why I came up out of the water, swung my leg over the side of the boat and came aboard. Will do my best to pitch in!

Hey! Been an occasional lurker on here, finally decided to join up. Been in the hobby for about seven years now with a bit of ebb and flow. Mainly listen to speakers with some occasional dabbling in headphones. Current main system is a Fet Audio DAC, DCB1 preamp and Presonus studio monitors. Headphone setup has a Matrix M Stage, multiple headphones and a Behringer SRC2496.

Previous iteration of the main setup was heavily on the tube side. Lampizator DAC, Rethm Gaanam amplifier and Rethm Saadhana speakers. Decided to downsize last year (the ebb part of the ebb and flow I mentioned above).

Looks like I'm getting into flow mode again with an itch to upgrade the monitors and the DAC. Lets see how long I hold out .... ;)

Thought about it a few times but the SRC2496 is like a digital audio swiss army knife. Works as a DAC, an ADC, an SRC/reclocker and as a headphone amp. Have used all those functions except the ADC at various points in time. Its the longest surviving audio component I own!

Thanks gurubhai. I still have the two headphones I bought from you in 2011

I gave my Behringer away to a friend in audio.

The thing I liked the most on this device was the gain knob for the headphone out. That low cost device had what many expensive devices often still omit for headphone users.

Hello everybody!

I'm Loïc and I'm from Switzerland. I have been quite addicted to listening to music since my early youth. I have the broadest tastes possible when it comes to genres and I am planning to reward myself with my first ever quality set up (graduation finally upon me)! Basically, I consider upgrading from an iPod feeding a Bose QC to a senn HD800 powerd by a WA7 (any thoughts welcome)! I am expecting quite a boost in audio experience!

It is as a newcomer to the HIFI world that I am registering to this insightful forum, looking forward reading you guys!

Cheers!
