For a youngin' I broke/modded too many phones. All my phones except three sub $20 iems.

AD900x (one channel working, played with damping and housing).

He-400 (headband foam removal/dissection, driver held on by only screws and no retaining ring for bass boost/less painful peaky treble and more "open" sound, still not exactly sure on definition. Stax sr-5 pads. waiting for cable repair shipment).

HD419 (earpad removal and damping paper removal. Driver cage removal. Accident with that resulted with a boxknife cutting into my palm. ER).

Stax sr-5 (one channel b/c one torn diapragm from higher volumes and age and mods with damping which may have caused over excursion).

Amperior (one channel working, need to solder hair thin driver wire after playing around with baffle to in mods to tone down siblance and thus slight midrange recession).

Dt770 (working. My messy soldering in internal wires after modding. Learned it has channel imbalance, unfixable, b/c one diaphragm is slightly thicker than the other).

I have an o2/odac. . . and an o2 I messed up.

Whew. . . urg. Just six months into the hobby. Went to Canjam socal 2015. Didn't spend enough time there.

Welcome Graean! You make me wish I had a proper shed to take things apart.

I’ve been lurking trying to learn the customs of this jolly ship and feel it’s time to jump aboard.

I learned of this place while trying to avoid some of the hype from the neighbor that relegates most of the posts I want to read to sound science.

My headphone journey started twenty years ago when I bought my first amp from a then, tiny firm called Headroom.  I picked up a Bithead to eliminate the awful buzz from my work luggable laptop and a pair of Beyer DT250-80.  I still have the Beyers and enjoy them at the office to block out my office mates;  Some times I even plug them into an amp and play music.   :P

I’m interested in figuring out the best mix of amps, headphones, and DSP settings for my ears.  I am learning to read the measurements that Tyll and others graciously post to figure out my end of the line system.   I currently switch between a TTVJ FET-A and a Headroom Max (vintage gear is lots of fun).

I look forward to participating while sailing the ocean of opinions and facts here.

Hello all!

Longtime lurker here, but I finally decided to register as a way to thank all of you for the great info and good stuff here.  I've learned a lot about audio in a short time and have amassed a starter system that includes a Wyrd, Modi 2, Asgard 2 and HE 400i.  I'm really enjoying this setup but am already anxious to start exploring other options.

So far Changstar has proven to be a refreshing change from the typical forum bullshit found elsewhere online (not just headphone related) and I'm looking forward to learning a lot more.
