Apologies - I should have posted here before describing my terrible setup.
Good day!

I've been 'doing music' for about...eleven years now?  And by 'doing music' I mean writing, recording, stealing other people's tracks and mashing them together to create trash for eleven years.

The 'best' pair of headphones I have had were some Shure SE535 IEMs that I bought for 259.99 on Amazon back in 2006 or 2007?  Back when they were like, $699.  I still have them, complete with the original box, but I would much rather get a pair of custom in-ear molds (that I have been lusting after for nine years?) and maybe try and send them in to Shure.  They make a weird rattling noise and I may have punched through whatever membrane is in the sound-hole itself.

Currently, I am rocking some 600ohm AKG K240 Monitors (fairly certain they are the exact pair Eddie Murphy wore in the Party All The Time music video), that I paid $50 too much for, but am still content to wear.

I'm supremely glad I found this forum, primarily because I love reading about things I cannot afford about as much as I enjoy objective discussions on music and headphones... which is a lot.

Lastly, if I happen upon a small fortune, I would most likely buy a Phonitor Mini and either an HD800 or LCD-X.  I know the HD800 and Phonitor Mini would be slightly masochistic, but I really cannot have too much detail... *especially* when recording whatever strange things I happen to find laying around the house.  The LCD-X would most likely be used as a reference phone and/or for pure enjoyment.

Ahoy matey!

I live in Québec, Canada and english is my second language. I work at an audio-video store, we sell mainly speakers and speaker related component. Since i am in an apartment and i listen to music mainly late in the day, i started a couple years ago this hobby with an hd800 and a lyr. Right now, i am really looking and waiting for yggy because i really want/need an upgrade for my dac.

I listen to almost anything except country. Feel free to ask me anything and have a good day  :)p2

It might happen that Changstar will become known for its cat avatars.

I am all for it  :)p2

This made me laugh. All pictures and captions pale in comparison.

Hi All.

Your name keeps on popping up as I roam around the headphone land, so I thought I might as well come check it out.

I'm mainly here to learn, so I might stick to lurking and the occasional neophyte question.

By the way, I like the forum style. It reminds me of high school era runescape and RO forums in Latin America.

Haha. I thought Changstar was unmentionable in most popular joint on the Internet.

First time poster, long-time lurker. I've been "into headphones" for several years, but never seem to keep gear around. I've currently abandoned an at-home rig due to lack of place to keep one, but previously had a Mad Dog Pro, Vali, and Dragonfly. I think the Dragonfly was the weak part of that chain. When I get back around to having something less portable, I'll probably get a Paradox and some sort of Schiit.

My current gear, mostly purchased due to recommendations here and Innerfidelity, is a Fiio X1 (need to replace this with something, but what???), Leckerton UHA-6S.MKII (love), B&W P7 (enh, I guess I like it well enough), Westone W30 (new to me, I think I like it a lot), SE535 (probably selling this soon. Lesson in how to do decent mids while hoovering off the top and bottom end. Very overpriced), Zero Audio Carbo Tenore (good beater for work). I should have a GO 450 in the mail tomorrow.

I'm getting impressions done in the morning for my first customs, probably the Changstar-approved UERM. I have minor reservations about them being a bit bass-shy for my taste, but I'm mostly sold on them due to constant high praise here. Besides, I have the W30 when I need something with a bit fuller bass.

I am interested in engaging with Changstar because I respect the subjective-objective slant. My default setting is skepticism, but I'm open-minded and willing to learn new things, challenge my assumptions, etc.

My other notable hobbies are playing guitar and competitive marksmanship (bullseye, might break into field target), both of which I do poorly.

Allow me to welcome myself aboard.

Welcome tiohn.

I heard that P7 recently for a short time and it made me want to hear more.  Price tag has kept me away...
