Hello, as i can see the force is quite high here.

Just bs'ing. Actaully haven't been very much into headphones, maybe 3 years max.
First good impression was with the K701, some 6 years ago. So i thought, headphones can be quite good.
My main deal was speakers and tying to get the acoustics right. We have used Genelec 8050A monitors and have done a punch of experiments and measurements with them.
(Also tested the smaller 8040A for half a year.)

My main 'rig' atm is Zero Audio 'Tenore' and a .rockboxed Clip +   :)

How are the Genelecs? Heard good things about them, but the price seems a bit steep.

I suppose they are quite good. I dont have good speaker references but I have had a change to compare them to HD800 from HDVA600 with BMC Pure DAC , speakers from the same DAC. Also, first time we used Daphile sound as the source. The speakers sounded surprisingly good in that small room. Lots of early reflection.. The HD800s came a head with lots of detail, but the speaker bass and overall dynamics was still breathtakingly good. We need to retest the system in a better room ofc.. In this comparison i would say that the HD800 are like a microscope, the macro detail is also better presented. But the speakers still are very enjoyable and capable to my surprise.

Been a long time lurker but finally decided to hop aboard for the completely selfish reason of wanting that Anax 3.0 mod.

I enjoying posting thoughtful comments like: "Nice!" and 'Sick rig!" or my personal favourite: "Sweeeet!"

But seriously, I have a lot of respect for what you guys do here. I'm always excited to see new measurements pop up and the opinions that follow. Hopefully one day I'll be able to add my own.  :)p2

Hi everyone,

Bought a new HD800, it sounded good on my existing gear - an iFi audio micro iDSD - but felt that it crossed too often into eye winching territory when I turned up the volume too much on pop music tracks. After doing some research, decided to get a dedicated head amp and here I am, reading that HD800 amps thread.

Decided to register once I saw that Anax 3.0 thread.  ;D

Hi all,

Migrated here from Head-Fi. Sick of all the censorship going on there. Happy to be here!
