Hello all. I've been skulking about here for some time, and decided it was time to join. I think I've always been fascinated by headphones, and drawn to the intimate sound and listening experience that they can provide. My gear is fairly low end by most enthusiasts' standards, but I hope to eventually improve on that.
"Why am I here" is a question that a sticky msg encourages one to think about and maybe answer. To that end, a lot of possible replies came to mind. I almost went with "to argue repeatedly and vigorously about objectivism", but as I read on, I quickly ruled that out. Close one. Of course there's the Karma points, and I'm dying to find the secret doors.
But no, those things are not in fact why I am here. I think I am partly here for the support (enabling) of my habit; the tacit approval of spending lots of cash on gear, to be in an environment where that seems normal and in fact quite the proper thing, which at home causes my wife to look at me like I have two heads. I am also here to find advice and opinions to help inform my next big headphone purchase, the one that will be my end-game headphone, the end-game that never comes because the goal post just moves down the road and that road has no end. Sigh.
In any case, cheers to all, it's damn fine to make everyone's acquaintance.
