Happy to do some measurements for you. Just lemme know.
Yeah, I'm actually the one who contacted you about the Z6 and Z7 some few months ago -- shortly after that I discovered that one of the Z6's drivers was botched (ouch), and THEN the Z7's cable shorted out (fuck) so I had to replace it with a really trashy spare one.

I'd like to get an HD650 cable on these before sending them out anywhere, simply because the way I have them wired up right now could be very dangerous if the cable gets yanked. I get paid this week, so once that comes in we'll see what I can do. Should be able to get both the 10-II and Z7 sent out. Would you mind measuring both of my 10-IIs (the mint one and the one that was repaired)?

I always love hearing about your vintage collection. Maybe I'll get to hear some myself someday.
Now that you mention it, I'm kind of off my DR-Z7 right now, and I have two 10-IIs... Perhaps once I get the 10R in my hands I could see about sending them to you for an audition. I could do a shipping relay when I send them to Tyll for measurements (me -> you, you -> Tyll or similar).

It's a date--thanks! Tyll gets 'em first though.
More than happy to oblige.  :)p6

Cheers!

Hey all from Portugal

Nothing really interesting on this first post so just a couple of text lines about me. In the mid forties and enjoying music for as long as I can't remember.  +20 years of audio upgrades, sidegrades and downgrades, mostly with speaker stuff. The headphone bug kick in later after stabilizing with the speaker room and not much time to listen to it with neighbours all around... hence the cans. Since these days there aren't any audio stores around I've been running the upgrades, sidegrade and downgrade drill more than ever lol. Sold most of my stuff so these days I'm basically stuck with a dozen cans and a couple amps and DACs. Looking forward to exchange some experiences although I'm not an addicted to poster, so you'all should be safe ;)

Yeah, HF...

Hi everyone

Long time reader but never felt able to contribute anything worthwhile but hope to in the future.
Live in England and a long time user of headphones including:
Stax Sigma Pro driven by Naim 160 power amp
Senn Hd600 & Momentums
Stax SR 202 & SR 003mk2

Really enjoy the balanced debates and the in depth knowledge based on long term listening and technical know how of Pirates.

Cheers

Yo.

After a number of low impedance headphones, I got a pair of HD-650's, and then built a Bottlehead Crack.  That was great until I heard a HD-600. I enjoyed building the Crack, and built a Quickie as well.  Most recently I went balanced on the 600, using an Oppo HA-1 as DAC and AMP.  Love it.  I still have the Crack, but it gets little use now as I prefer the Oppo 99% of the time. Anyhow, I still have my Sennheiser HD 414sl's I bought back in 1981, they only play in one ear, but I can't seem to throw them out.

Yes, I keep going back to them and they keep putting a smile on my face everytime. They should be reissued and canibalize all AKG current offerings on sale  :)p13

Hey Folks-

Been lurking around here for a little bit, thought I'd introduce myself.

What I do: Accountant

Why I'm interested in being a part of a headphone forum: I like talking and reading about music and audio stuff.

What I think of the CSD measurements here: I don't understand measurements at all, but I am interested in interpretations of said measurements by people who do understand them.

Past experience with headphones good/bad: I got into headphones in 2006 I think. For about 5 years there I went crazy. I've had just about every major headphone go through my house at one point or another, though I'm certainly not as up on headphones that have come out in the past few years since I've really settled into my current rig. I've heard really bad headphones and really amazing headphones. I attended three national meets (Canjam SoFla, Canjam Chicago, Canjam LA) and made a bunch of amazing friends via this hobby.

Other: I'm a live music fanatic, mostly via music festivals. I attend Jazzfest, Bonnaroo, Voodoo, and Hangout almost every year. I'm also a crazy Phish fan, been to a bunch of shows and plan to continue doing so. So this hobby is primarily about the music for me, but also about the relationships with others I've formed via this hobby.

I mostly post on headcase, but Tyll mentioned this place in an article I was reading and thought I'd come see what you're all about. Music wise I'm also a frequent poster on Inforoo, which is a Bonnaroo community but really is just a bunch of music lovers talking all things music and live music.

Thanks for reading my introduction post. I know every online community is different, so if I do something stupid around here please let me know, you won't hurt my feelings.  :)
