Hello all,

New to Changstar as a registered user, but long-time lurker. I've been in the hobby since its early days, so I've heard and owned quite a bit of stuff during the years. My current gear is listed in my profile.
What else to mention at this point? I'm a PhD student/researcher and software engineer by day, music critic by night, and I have a great interest in all of the arts. I hail from Croatia, a small country in the EU.

That's about it for now. ;)

Cheers!

Dobar dan!

Hi,

i just came here for some lurking, but search machine is not very friendly for nonregistered users so it had to be done. While i am at it, i thought i might just introduce myself.
Law student living in Prague, been around in this hobby for almost year now, so its still pretty new to me, but i have been able to figure out some of the crap that is spreading on other audio oriented websites, thats main reason why i came here. And maybe to ask some question here and there.

Some of the stuff i have collected if anyone cares. HD600 / CustomArt H8 / SD2 | MSII+ / Project Polaris / DX90.

Fair Winds...

Dobar dan!

That's a very formal way to say hello, it equates to "good day". More casual greetings include: "bok", "zdravo", and "pozdrav". :-)

So: "Zdravo, Anaxiluse!" :-)

Hi, my name is Tyll and I'd describe my politics as "post-modern tribalism."

My ideal ticket would be Sanders/Clinton...but only if Bernie wore a colorful headdress and Hillary wore only a loin cloth and painted her nipples.

If the world doesn't end, it will be ten more years before we get really good high end headphones.

Be careful out there, this is what 3 weeks of daily intravenous IV antibiotics will do to you.

Hi guys,

I guess my name kind of explains who I am. I'm not here to cause trouble or promote HFN, I'm mostly here because the word "Head-fi" gives me shivers  ::)
I'm hoping this is a more open minded community :)

Welcome! People here are asses as well, but in a better way. More... informed? Less hype-train-prone?

Pyrates love their Schiit. Everything I read here, I have to run through a mental filter that translates Clarityhead -> Basshead (me).

Where most Pyrates love the HD800 and the Yggy/Rag, I'm more inclined toward the TH600/900 and Audio-GD Burr-Brown stuff.

Hi guys,

Long time Head-Fi member, and only knew about this site as some mysterious place that no one over there wanted to talk about.  I then discovered this site recently from Tyll's HD800 mod article.

I got into headphones seriously in 1994, and then after a few years of fun and exploration, I kind of settled down with a system that was good enough, but recently because of Schiit, I've been interested again. My list of equipment in roughly chronological order (that I still have):

- Headroom Supreme (that I learned about in Stereophile), Ety 4S, and HD580
- Sennheiser HE60 and HEV70
- AKG K1000 + SAC amp
- Senn HD600
- Senn HD650
- 2nd gen Headroom Max
(long break)
- Schiit Asgard
- Apple dual-driver IEMs + Ety flanges (for airplanes)
- Centrance DACport LX
- Centrance HiFi-M8
- new-to-me HD800 on its way
- Bottlehead Crack + Speedball kit on its way

Plus various DACs moving in and out from the main system (eg. Theta Pro Prime IIA, modded Parts Connection DAC2, Rotel CD player). Main system BTW is based on a pair of gen 1 Linkwitz Orions, with Plutos as surrounds, and a Lexicon MC-12HD and Logitech streamer. It's far from a purist audio system, but I enjoy the heck out of it, and it's very difficult to find a better speaker than the Orions at any price besides its successors.

Most of my music is from my large CD collection that I've been ripping piecemeal. My main interest is classical music, and I try to listen to as much of it live as possible. I'm lucky to live within driving distance of the LA Phil, and the amazing Disney Concert Hall, and had been a subscriber for over 10 years, before Dudamel took over. Talented guy, but I'm not a fan.

I would say I'm an objectivist and have been trained that way as an engineer, but I know enough to know that there's lots of weird stuff that happens, so I try to be skeptical of both objectivist and subjectivist claims, with skepticism rising proportionally to the extremism of either side.

Glad to be here, and it's fascinating reading past threads.

You are going to come back a whole new colorful, radiant and arresting Hutt. I can feel it in the force.
