Vsonic VSD1 LTD
« on: February 28, 2014, 11:12:54 PM »

Thanks to Unity who sent these in to me. I assume these are the Limited Editions which supposedly sound slightly different?
  • I like them. No they don't have nearly the pristine clarity of the UERMs, but I do like them for providing a good tonal response.
  • After getting a good seal, they are slightly warmer than the UERM. Think Paradox Slants bass tuning.
  • Slight treble roll-off. Lacks air.
  • Those looking for high performance in precision, articulation, detail extraction, etc. should look elsewhere.
  • If pushed hard, the treble gets rough.
How much are these? I'm asking because if these are reasonable priced, I'd buy a few of them and give them to friends so they can replace their iBuds.

NOTE ON MEASUREMENTS: updated...

VSonic made three versions of the VSD1 I believe. One is tuned to be more analytical, the other less so. This version is the limited one that was supposedly tuned by the CEO's dad or something, and it was produced in limited quantities as a preview for their higher-end model. I don't think it's readily available, but the regular versions are.

Personally I did not care for these much, myself.

I mostly talk about music there. Weird.

~$50

I'm not into IEMs (comfort), and have not heard these, but given the impressions that's an awesome price!

I did not care for these either (the regular and 'S' variants, have not heard the LTD). Most unforgivable was the fact that they used Comic Sans as the typeface for labeling the model number.

Also, the "CEO's" father is the real CEO. The younger guy is just the heir apparent, though I dread the day that comes, because the guy is as douchey as they come. The only reason for VSONIC's relative success in recent years is because of his father.

I don't know whether these are a good IEM to recommend besides the okayish sound(you can get better sound from them Chinese IEMs if you know where to look) but to me I had a bunch of these to repair which were a total PITA to do so, cabling is pretty crappy.

I forgot to mention. The cables are horrendous with teh VSD1 LTD. They are the rubbery kind which tend to tie itself into knots. A serious PIA. It was not fun untangling them.

You obviously have not encountered the old Klipsch Custom series... they make these cables look like a walk in the park.
