Well, you really don't need transformers to do the talking. Take a high power amp load it with a proper resistor and listen! As high current gets pumped through the circuit even transistors can sing!

This is one of the causes for dying amps. Magnetic vibration loosens the screws on transistors, they loose thermal contact from the heatsink until they cook themselves without tripping the thermal breakers.

Amplifiers can literally shake/vibrate themselves to pieces?

In addition to singing they also dance it seems...

Not really "to pieces", but some mechanical connections can loosen up as time passes. This is one of the reasons why speaker amps in the late 80ies had pretty beefy chassis. That and also metal was pretty cheap back then. That said some manufacturers used gypsum like materials to make even stiffer "flooring" for their amps.

This vibration can really do a number on shoddy soldering joints, screw mounted electrical and thermal couplings (these also wear with thermal cycles). I mean people can laugh about overbuilt chassis, but in some cases it does make sense.

The older heavy chassis Pioneer, Marantz and Sansui amplifiers are still much loved. I have one in storage.

If I am correct the amplifiers became lighter in the late seventies. Materials have become much lighter since then...

Makes sense to build a chassis to minimize vibration if it's also going to be sitting on a shelf next to the vinyl...

Do you think there may be an acoustic leak from the jack hole? ~Tyll Hertsens

Not sure if I like stuffing one hole or both holes. Tending toward one hole since both holes seems kinda ghey ~Purrin

Manufacturers and customisers of audio equipment stabilise, dampen and add weight to turntables, CD-players, amplifiers, receivers and whatever is desired to improve audio components.

When a CD-player or stereo amplifier is too light I usually do not trust it at first.
