Husker Du - Zen Arcade

Basically a story of a young guy who runs away to escape an abusive home, does a bunch of stuff, but wakes up to find his running away was just a dream and he's still's there.

And, IMHO, the best stuff Husker Du put out.

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

good stuff.  i guess i'm more of a "poppy" Candy Apple Grey guy.  loudest fucking concert i ever went to was Bob Mould "Black Sheets of Rain" tour.  my friend's ears were hurting so bad, and couldn't make his way backwards through the crowd, decided to jump the barricade and stage dive to get his ass kicked out.  Firehose was the opening act.  i think i'm still slightly deaf from the show.

this is a fav no-brainer concept album:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2112_(album)

My number 1 choice is more of a "quasi" concept album, but Ritual by The Black Dahlia Murder would be my favorite.

then, Matterhorn - Vol. 1. The World Began Without Man... & Vol. 2. ...And It Will Resolve Itself Without Him.

Amazing instrumental metal album about the end of the world. Check out both EPs at their bandcamp

The new Ocean album, Pelagial, is also pretty stellar. It's a progressive metal album about a journey through the layers of the ocean to the bottom.

When I was a teenager I liked Enigma's "The Cross of Changes" a lot.

It was the first progressive album I had ever heard... and was the second to last because I don't do that genre anymore.
