Sennheiser HD25-1 II (II-1 or whatever) CSD waterfall plots by request.
  • First of all, someone at Sennheiser should be fired for naming this headphone the HD25-1 II. Seriously.
  • The treble on these headphones hurt me. YMMV.
  • Can anyone get me Beyer DT1350s for measurements?

Shipsupt on head-fi has DT1350's and he's buddies with CEE TEE.  Maybe he can use his powers of persuasion.

Tyll's got an article up about the "Amperior" version of these which have machined aluminum cups which look like they might take care of some of those issues.

WTF! $350 for some "Emperor Fritz" version to fix a issue with the HD25-i-x-2334-123-i=2=ii? that should have been fixed on the original to begin with?

That's HALL OF SHAME!

I guess you don't think the aluminum cups are worth it then...

I'm sure it's worth something.  But according to Tyll, the HD25 was released in 1989.  So after 23 years, and a million roman numerals and dash signs and numbers, they..... remold the cups in a different material.  Fail.

Wowzers, machined aluminum rather than cast shells.  They are definitely making the case for the premium price.  Probably hard to justify charging double to mass dampen the stock plastic shells and add foam.  At least it's not as bad as what Ultrasone does.
