I think these are Quest's and really appreciate his letting some of us take a listen  :)p5

I think these do lows and mids well. The upper mids and treble are not perfect and perhaps a bit laid back. It's a closed design and treble might be difficult for these types of phones. The main issue I had with them was that they were a little too wide for my head and had to press them a little to get good seal (which these cans really need or bass gets pretty light). Others with wider noggin might not have such issue.

The design is pretty elegant and fairly practical.

Wish they where much less than $300.

Is this the on-ear or over-ear Momentum ?

Seems quite similar to my StratoKOSSters, but treble is more rolled off.

From the HF-StratoKOSSter thread:

Yes, the treble and fit are probably the most problematic areas about these cans for me. The StratoKOSSters look like a better Momentums all around.

I think the Momentums are the over-ear ones w leather pads.

I sure hope so. The cloth-padded on-ears have paralyzing (-ly exaggerated) bass response.

Seems so, according to IF the On Ear version seems to have a bit more bass:

I've listened to the on-ears a couple of times.  They are voiced to sell at InMotion and Best Buy: they really grab your attention with all that yummy bass.  I do think that with some judicious EQ they can be really enjoyable.  If I hadn't already grabbed a DT 1350 for less money, I'd be tempted.

I didn't like the bass too much on them, I felt as if it was a bit too wooly and tubby.  Although I do agree I think a general lack of treble is their biggest weakness.  If it had more treble it could do a better job of balancing out the bass.

Agreed with the impressions. I also thought the treble was the weak part, not so much the quantity as the resolution. The highs were a bit grainy and kinda fake. Papery, if that makes any sense. But maybe I'm spoiled by listening to nothing but electrostatics for years now.

Anyway, nice-sounding closed headphones that are pleasing but just shy of being hi-fi, mainly for reasons of inadequate resolution. The tonal balance is very much old-school Sennheiser-like, more HD650 than HD800.
