Out of curiosity were the Ken-Rads ST Bottle or Globe?

IMHO the EML are the right tubes for the type of sound you prefer.

Hi purrin,

Do you know whether Craig uses IT or cap between the stages on the EC445?  He said he will be using Hammond IT, but that was like 2-3 weeks back.  Like the old BA's slanted front a lot, but don't see where the ITs would be :-DD

I've asked Craig to build the 445 for me since the LA meet.  He has been struggled on the OPT; glad to hear that he got it sorted out.  I'm thinking of change it up with 5k/32ohm when I get it though.

Thanks for the update!  Cool design, should push it hard to him.

Seriously doubt he'll be using caps, could be wrong.  Should be room for the ITs inside the chassis.  They aren't the monster Tangos.  This should be a 45 version of Levi w/ American sourced TXs, likely half the power.

The interstages will be inside the black boxes behind the output tubes. He will use the Hammonds since they happened to measure well - better than anything else except the Tango interstages. The OPTs will be inside the chassis - similar to the BA. The OPTs of course will have to fit, but Craig is hopeful. Dave@Cinemag is working on a few prototype OPTs which he feels will fit. The target obviously for them to be as good the BA OPTs, but with more power capability. Think slightly bigger version of the BA OPTs. They will be 2.5k-8, which is the same difference as 5k-16 currently in the BA.

The Levi/2A3 unfortunately cannot be fit into the BA chassis. It's a more powerful amp (6W vs 3W into 8 ohms) than then 445 - the OPTs for the Levi/2A3 are too big to fit inside.

The plan is also to have RCA pre-outs on the back - for a subwoofer processor or plate amp.

Phew, good to hear the IT is still in the spec.

I saw the Levi build post but was late to jump on the wagon.  This will be a step-down of the Levi; but I refer the 45 sound though.

I really do want to try out some Japanese OPT/different primary/secondary after I get the amp.  Wonder, should I bug him to build my 445 on a 2A3 chassis.  BA chassis looks really nice but no space to play around.

That's why Dave told me 5 weeks for him to build my MC step-up trannys!   :)p3  Thanks Craig!   :P

I really like the stuff I've gotten from Cinemag so far, and Dave's customer service has been really good.

Just rumors again... for the 445.
It turns out all that stuff (AC heaters, IPT, OPT, etc.) won't fit in a BA chassis.  :'(

These are tentative designs. Volume knob will be moved left, an EC plaque will be in the middle on the front. Similar to BA. Top will have shiny finish a la Electra. The idea was to only have the tubes exposed and shove all the transformer into the chassis, resulting in long clean planes.

A little bit of a departure. A big amp. 18.5" wide.
