I was going to say the CSD didn't look too bad until I noticed the scale on the time axis..

This is how the image showed up when I brought up the landing page on my iPhone.  I had a laugh.

Interesting...

I'm going to be intrigued by how future Beats measure up as they are no longer Monster.

I have the pros and legit pair if anyone is interested? For them to be measured. I got them for free from my brother. They don't sound, bad at all. I actually like them good amont. I even modded them to sound better and actually liked them more than stock pair of k702s I also recently acquired from a friend.

For the studios here...yea I wasn't fond of them even when I heard a legit pair. I see them everywhere. The pros though are defiantly different level and after some quick mods they became well balanced sounding and no razor of death treble too lol. High frequency energy sounds good and not ear bothersome at all I think. I really enjoy the midrange on them as well. Surprisenly pretty darn good. I still find their price tag for retail ridiculos and how many fakes out there too still lol. I send them up if people are interested and purrin don't mind.

Now that you mentioned Monster, I'm actually using right at this moment their Ncredible N-Pulse headphones! I have to say it again, I never thought I'd be enjoying something endorsed by Nick Cannon!! LOL. Fun V-shape sig, pretty powerful bass, soundstage suffers a whole lot (don't like Metal with these) but they are QUITE enjoyable!

I got to spend some time with the Beats Studios... Are they perfect? Nope. But IMO these don't suck (the Solos might tho). These cans have good punch and sparkle to them. While these are not neutral (there is an evident hollow effect due to a mids suck out), the overall balance is.

It is fairly easy for me to adjust to the signature of these phones, to the point that the hollow effect stops bothering me. They are not fatiguing. The bass goes deep, relatively clean, and has good impact.

I also noticed that the pads for these are not fully leathery type material. Internally the pad is made of some cloth type material. I find them fairly comfy.

Yup, don't like the price.

I measured these at 90 dBSPL with white noise instead of @ 1 kHz since these drop quite a bit at that particular frequency. Here are some results (Some issues getting ARTA to display appropriate SPL on FR y-axis - off by about 10 dB):

Compare with:

FR + Distortion Right

FR + Distortion Left

CSD Right

CSD Left

Marv mentioned the HP50's reminded him a bit of the Beats Studio... Here is the FR comparo (HP50's are 90dBSPL @ 1kHz / Studio are 90dBSPL White Noise):

To me the main difference was a little more hollowness on the Studios, but less bright. Good bass impact on both.

That lack of lower end decay is alarming. It is probably giving the bass a very thick/syrupy characteristic?

Bass is slightly muddy, but not horrible. The lower end "decay" is mostly a processing / visualization thing. UB's measurements weren't gated. I usually gate mine to 5ms.

Yes, the bass is not bad at all. For me it's usually easier to visualize that with distortion measurements. I will try to redo CSD with 5 ms gating, but most of the information I consider useful with CSDs (with the chosen parameters) is above 1 kHz.

Note that for the distortion measurements I used about 90 dBSPL with White Noise in this case. If I reference to 1 kHz then distortion is pretty high. IMO unfairly so. If I reference to 500 Hz then distortion is pretty low, perhaps also unfairly so.

Anyway, I did not feel like bass response was problematic or very thick with these cans.
